April Carthorn is the membership manager and a training & technical assistance specialist at National Safe Place Network. April brings over 30 years of education and on-the-ground work experience on behalf of youth, young adults and their families that includes runaway & homeless youth, child welfare and education systems.

She is driven by empathy for others, an intense passion and endless enjoyment for youth engagement and providing awareness, advocacy, training and support to program staff, community providers and other partners invested in youth safety and connection opportunities. April believes and shares with youth and families the benefits of positive self-care and a simple motto “Don’t let a bad day or situation make you feel like you have a bad life.” Her own self-care essentials include connection to others, treating everyone significantly, laughter, adventure, travel and her pets Honey and Nugget.
